This past weekend I went with almost all NGP Software employees and a few significant others to our family’s farm in rural Vermont. I enjoyed it a great deal.
I bring my company to that place because I love it and want to share it with others I care about; it is beautiful and peaceful and very much a part of me.
My parents were around some of the time, and I was proud to have them meet my team. And my Aunt Paula from New Hampshire visited; it was nice to see her as well.
I think the group really got to know each other even better (I even met one employee, Vicki, who works for us from Los Angeles, for the first time.)
We played volleyball, kickball at the local high school, had a bonfire in the back field, experimented with disc golf, did some stumping with a backhoe, observed the sheep in the fields, ate some great food cooked by Leah and Doran and Ha Hoa and others of the gang. Many of us slept outside in tents, while those with more urban leanings found places inside our modest house. We even shared some photos of those who are near and dear or who have influenced us in our lives. We hung out and played poker and drank various libations and generally had a good time.
I admit to being one of the first to fall asleep each night, long before the fun ended (but also among the first to awaken each morning.)
Great weekend. I feel wonderful and privileged and happy to be associated with such a splendid group of diverse and interesting people.
